Meet Laurie Burrows: Image Maker Salon

Laurie Burrows has always been ahead of her time. She started working in a salon at 15 doing nails, purchased her own salon at 20 and was one of the first people to do permanent cosmetics in Utah.

Laurie’s salon, Image Maker, is located on State Street in Orem and offers permanent cosmetics, hair extensions, lash extensions, haircuts, hair coloring, acrylic nails, glitter toes and more.

Permanent cosmetics, also known as cosmetic tattooing, is Laurie’s specialty. In her more than 20 years of practice, she has perfected her technique and refined her artistic eye.

Permanent makeup isn’t just for the ultra glamorous though. Many of Laurie’s clients are older women whose shaky hands won’t allow them to do their own makeup anymore.

She has also helped people who have been in disfiguring car accidents and are trying to restore their natural look. “I love being able to help people feel good about the way they look again,” Laurie says.

Laurie’s salon also specializes in hair extensions. Her mom actually created the non-damaging, natural looking technique that Laurie’s salon uses. “My mother really inspired me and taught me a lot about the industry and life,” Laurie says.

Because of the flexible schedule that comes with being a business owner, Laurie has been able to raise her four children and spend time with her grandson while working. “When you are a working mother, it makes you appreciate time with your kids when you have it,” Laurie says.

Laurie’s staff is a close-knit group with many of her friends and family work alongside her at the salon. “The salon is my little home-away-from-home and all my employees feel like family,” Laurie says. “I love what I do and I want to be here everyday, regardless of whether or not I need to work”.

Helping people feel better about themselves is extremely fulfilling to me and I have developed so many close friendships over the years.”

Beauty Tip:

Hair extensions aren’t just for adding length. They can be used to make your hair appear thicker and fuller, no matter what the length.
